As a founder of the Bandung Conference of 1955, a reliable partner and a responsible member of the Asian-African community, the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation led by President Truong Tan Sang made important contributions to the Asian-African Summit, the 60th anniversary of the Bandung Conference and the 10th anniversary of establishing a “New Asian-Africa Strategic Partnership”, held in Indonesia from April 21-24, 2015.
The Vietnamese leader’s speech delivered at the conference helped international friends understand more about the efforts of Vietnam and other ASEAN member countries to build a peaceful, sustainable and prosperous Asian region; emphasized the requirements for settling disputes in line with international law and ensuring freedom, security and marine and aviation safety; sharing Vietnam’s initiatives and experience in promoting connectivity and development cooperation with African countries and South-South cooperation.
The message that State President Truong Tan Sang conveyed at the conference entitled “Strengthening Asian-African connectivity for peace and prosperity in the world on the basis of International law” won applause and received high praise from Asian-African friends.
Vietnam actively contributed to building documents of the conference which both reflected common interests of Asian-African countries and mentioned important contents concerned about by Vietnam which were related to the East Sea and water resource security.
On the sidelines of the conference, State President Truong Tan Sang and members of the Vietnamese delegation met the heads of 25 delegations to discuss concrete measures to promote bilateral relations, especially in trade and investment, thereby tightening the solidarity with Asian-African countries and gaining more support from other countries for issues of Vietnam’s concern.
