During the two-day conference, experts from the International Criminal Police Organization, the World Customs Organization, and the ASEAN Wildlife Enforcement Network (ASEAN-WEN) and representatives from Vietnam’s law enforcement agencies will discuss measures to improve the effectiveness of law enforcement in controlling the trafficking of wildlife across borders and preventing related international crimes.

At the meeting, global wildlife experts mentioned the area where Vietnam can receive international assistance as well as support tools for information exchanges and inter-sector cooperation.

At a recent summit on tiger protection in Russia, 13 countries signed commitments to strengthen measures for protecting tigers, their prey, and biological habitats with a view to raising the number of wild tigers in the world to more than 7,000 individuals in 2022, double the current figure.
