Entering the match with both teams already qualified for the quarterfinals, the game was still a crucial battle for the top spot, determining which side would avoid a potential clash with host nation Indonesia in the next round.

The match opened with high intensity. Both sides played with speed and physicality, pressing hard and contesting every ball. Vietnam created a golden opportunity early in the first half when Dinh Cong Vien broke free and faced the goalkeeper one-on-one but failed to convert.

Thailand quickly responded with chances from Narongsak and Osamanmusa, forcing Vietnam’s goalkeeper Pham Van Tu into a series of strong saves.

In the second half, Vietnam continued to push. In the 28th minute, the team was awarded a dangerous free-kick after Thai goalkeeper Senbat was booked for a foul on Ngoc Anh. The set-piece, however, was not taken advantage of.

The decisive moment came in the 36th minute. Krit Aransanyalak capitalized on a defensive mistake, turning quickly before striking a low shot across goal that beat Van Tu for the game's only goal.

Vietnam immediately switched to power-play mode, bringing all players upfield in search of an equalizer. Chau Doan Phat unleashed a fierce shot, but Senbat again proved solid in goal, denying the effort.

Despite throwing everything forward in the closing moments, Vietnam could not find the back of the net. The 0-1 loss means they finish second in Group B and will face the top team from Group A  -  either Indonesia or Iraq  -  in the quarterfinals.
