VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam has around 150,000 new cases of cancer every year with 75,000 people succumbing to the disease. It means 208 people in the country die everyday or each hour 9 people succumb to chronic diseases.

According to the World Health Organization's announcement, there are around 12.7 million cases of new cancer and over 7.6 million people die of cancer annually.

Through investigation, Vietnamese female usually get breast cancer, cervical cancer, colorectal cancer, lung cancer and thyroid gland cancer. Amongst them, cervical cancer is a burden for Vietnamese female.

Vietnam has around 8,000 new cases of cervical cancer per year. In the early stage, cervical cancer has no clear symptoms or female easily mistakenly thought it is gynecological infection and they neglect the disease. Then, the disease develops in last stage, they go to hospital for treatment.

In the pre-cancerous condition, it can be detected by tests and the disease can be cured with the rate of 98 percent. However, it will fastly develop into cancer if it is not treated.

Worse, more and more young female get cancer especially cervical and endometrium nowadays; even vulvar cancer - a rare cancer- accounts for 5 percent of total cases of cancer.

Before, cervical cancer happens in just women aged 45 up, the disease now occur in young people at the age of 30 -40 and some of them are at twenties.

Though cancer is a fatal disease, it can be cured if it is detected in early stage. For example, the success rate for treating Ovarian cancer in the first stage is 90 percent, the second stage is 70 percent, the third stage is 57 percent and the final stage just 17 percent.

Meanwhile the success rate for curing cervical cancer in the first, second, third and fourth stages is 93 percent, 63 percent, 35 percent and 16 percent respectively.
