Over 170 expatriate Vietnamese from 25 countries and territories around the world paid a visit to the Hue ancient citadel on July 18.
Participants of Vietnam Summer Camp 2012 also had an exchange with young people from the central province of Thua Thien-Hue.
Pham Quang Huy, a student of bio-technology, residing in Malaysia, said he was impressed by Hue’s romance, tranquility and hospitality.
He said exploring the relics helped him acquire more knowledge of the history of Vietnam’s feudal regime and the motherland’s culture.
For Vu Thuy Tra My, returning from Russia, the ao dai (traditional long dress) in Hue made the greatest impression on her. She said her grandparents were born in Hue, so they always remind her of the importance of maintaining Vietnamese lifestyles and language.
Do Ha My, an expat from Poland, noted that throughout the visit, she felt more confident to promote beautiful images of her country to international friends.
Vietnam Summer Camp 2012 aims to commemorate the 60th death anniversary of heroic martyr Vo Thi Sau, the 150th anniversary of Con Dao (Poulo Condor) Prison and the 65th anniversary of War Invalids and Martyrs Day (July 27).
The event provides a good chance for young expats to find out more about the culture and history of the motherland and strengthen solidarity and connections between them and their native land.
After leaving Hue, the delegation will continue their journey to Binh Dinh province.
