VietNamNet Bridge – The Vietnam Summer Festival was held in London on July 14 to introduce Vietnam’s unique culture to the British people and foreign visitors coming to the city for the upcoming Summer Olympics.

The event was organised by the Vietnam Professionals in the UK (Vietpro) and featured 80 stands showcasing Vietnamese food, traditional handicrafts, folk games, fashion and music.

Visitors enjoyed a performance by the Bong Sen (Lotus) art troupe and a fashion show of work by talented young Vietnamese designers, including Nguyen Viet Minh Chau.

Jennette Arnold, Chair of the London Assembly, said the festival provides a good opportunity for people to discover the beauty of Vietnamese culture.

She said the Vietnamese community is the largest community in the London borough of Hackney, where she is also a representative.

Vietpro Chairman Pham Dat said the idea for organizing the event was proposed several months earlier and received great support from many agencies, particularly the Vietnamese embassy in the UK.

Established in 2012 with 650 members who are studying and working in the UK, Vietpro aims to share and create job opportunities and business ideas among intellectuals and students in the country.
