The film is about the challenges, choices and dreams that shape the lives of seven young Vietnamese and others in the same age groups.
Born after the war, they are now in their 20s and 30s with plenty of opportunity lying ahead beyond their parents' imagination.

The film appeared in the US on April 30 as a gift for Vietnam which she loved very much.
In 1997 Northrop accompanied her husband, David Lamb, to Hanoi and began making her first programme about Vietnam called “Assignment Hanoi”.
Her second programme, “Vietnam Passage: Journeys from War to Peace”, highlights the Vietnamese perspective on the war and its aftermath. “Vietnam: The next generation” is the final film in what has become a trilogy on modern Vietnam.
