VietNamNet Bridge - The Vietnamese national women’s football team pounded Hong Kong 4-0 on Friday in Taiwan in the group A opening match of the 2012 London Olympics Asian qualifiers.

On Sunday, Vietnam will next take on Myanmar, who held the hosts Taiwan to a 1-1 draw yesterday. Taiwan is also scheduled to face Thailand tomorrow in the group of five.
The road to the FIFA Women’s Olympic Football Tournament 2012 starts for Asian teams with three rounds of qualification spreading out until September to decide the two teams that will represent Asia at the London Olympics.
A total of 12 lowest-seeded teams who are taking part in the inaugural phase of qualification, include India, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh in group B; and Bahrain, Iran, Palestine and Jordan in the C fray.
The top two teams from each of the groups A and C and the winner of group B advance to the second round of qualifiers from June 3-12.
The winning team of this qualification round will join the next round with the top five teams of the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games edition including Japan, China, South Korea, North Korea and Australia.
The six teams will play a one-round league format in the final qualification round from September 1-11.
The top two teams in the final round of qualifiers will fly the Asian flag at the 2012 London Olympics.
