VietNamNet Bridge - U-21 Vietnam emphatically slashed U-21 Thailand 3-1 in a very attractive game at Thong Nhat stadium on October 27.

Playing in the rain, both Vietnam and Thailand wanted to secure a victory to top Group A.

Vietnam took the lead in the 34th minute when Xuan Hieu scored the opener from a close range.

After the goal, Vietnam continued to attack, creating a lot of chances to score. In the 40th minute, Dinh Bao’s strike was saved by Thai goalkeeper Yen Arom. Three minutes later, Duc Tai’s shot was block by Thailand’s defender before Duc Nhan fired over the crossbar in the 44th minute.

Just a minute into the second half, Duy Lam doubled the score with his super 25-metre freekick shot. In a harmonious combination of Vietnam in the 62nd minute Duc Nhan widened the gap to 3-0 from Duc Tai’ cross.

Two minutes later, Thailand narrowed the gap with substitute Pattana’s super header from his teammate’s freekick.

In the second half the hosts’ offside trap was effective. And Vietnam missed several chances to score. The Hung’s shot hit the crossbar in the 75th minute before Nhat Nam’s powerful strike was saved by keeper Yen Arom. Having defeatedThailand 3-1, U-21 Vietnam topped Group A, followed by Thailand and Myanmar.

Earlier in another match, U-21 Malaysia edged U-19 Vietnam 1-0 to top Group B, followed by U-19 Vietnam and Singapore.

As a result, Thailand will play Malaysia tomorrow while U-21 Vietnam will take on U-19 Vietnam in the semifinals.
