VietNamNet Bridge – The second storm in the East Sea is heading to the Philippines with winds reaching level 15-16 on the 17-scale-level. Vietnam forecasters say that whirlwinds may appear in the sea of provinces from Binh Thuan to Ca Mau.

The National Center for Hydro meteorological Forecasting says the strong tropical storm, named Songda, is intensifying over the East Sea near the central Philippines. The storm is now forecast to move in a west-northwesterly direction at 15km per hour.

The combined effects of Songda and the strong activities of the north-western monsoon will see waters off the coast of southern provinces from Ninh Thuan to Ca Mau, experiencing level 5 winds (29-38 km per hour) and strong rain storms.

Local authorities of provinces stretching from Quang Ninh to Kien Giang have been requested to regularly inform people living near the coast on the storm's progress to aid with preparations.
