Coach Nguyen Huu Thang used the 4-4-1-1 strategy in this match to test whether the defence tactic worked.
Viet Nam controlled the match from the first minutes. From a corner kick in the left wing, Hoang Dinh Tung put his header past the Jeonju University goalkeeper to open the score for Viet Nam in the 28th minute.
Viet Nam continued creating many chances to double the score but failed.
In the 65th minute, taking full advantage of an error by the Vietnamese defenders, the host team leveled the score to 1-1.
Earlier, Viet Nam beat FC Seoul in the K.League 3-0. Viet Nam are scheduled to meet Pocheon, defending champions of the K3 League, in the third friendly match.
Viet Nam are training in South Korea for two weeks to prepare for the upcoming ASEAN Football Federation Cup.
