Vietnam will send a team of three students and their faculty advisor this February 12-15 to Boston to participate in the annual Harvard National Model United Nations (HNMUN) conference.

The three talented students are Hoang Son Nam, Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, and Bui Tuan who have achieved high academic results in their postgraduate studies at the UCD Michael Smurfit Graduate Business School in Ireland.

The Harvard Model UN, founded in 1955, is the largest, oldest, and most extensive conference of this nature in the world. Over 3,000 students attend from universities around the globe as delegate teams representing the various actual member states of the UN, non-governmental organizations, and the press corps.

The HNMUN simulates the activities of the United Nations in proposing, debating, and voting on resolutions on major global issues.

The simulation takes place under various organs and committees of the UN, including those of the General Assembly, the Economic and Social Council, specialized agencies, and regional organizations.

On the agenda for this year’s conference are issues such as regional security and civil war, chemical and biological weapons, cybersecurity, multinational corporations and international law, biodiversity and medicine, drug trafficking, nuclear testing, undocumented immigrants, sustainable transportation, famine, and many more.
