The plan was made under the direction of the Government, the Prime Minister, proposals of localities, and forecasts of vehicular traffic on existing routes.

Under the plan, the northern region of the country would have three new expressways, including Dien Bien-Son La-Hoa Binh Expressway, Cho Moi-Bac Kan Expressway, and an expressway that connects the uplands province of Ha Giang to Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway.

In the Central Highlands region, an expressway would be built from Ngoc Hoi District to the Bo Y border gate in Kom Tum Province.

The southern region would have three expressways, including Go Dau- Xa Mat Expressway in Tay Ninh Province, Hong Ngu-Tra Vinh Expressway, and an expressway that connects Tran De Port to the Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang Expressway.

These projects are expected to be completed before 2030.

According to the transport ministry, by 2030 the country’s road system will reach 6,418km of expressways. After 2030, it will add 932km of new highways with total investment of more than VND129 trillion (US$5,5 billion). — VNS

The management boards of the North-South Expressway’s sub-projects have received applications from 32 domestic investors and joint ventures.

Expressway to connect HCM City and Tay Ninh

PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc has agreed to assign the People’s Committee of HCMC as the state agency to implement a project building an expressway linking the southern economic hub with Moc Bai in Tay Ninh province.
