VietNamNet Bridge – A Vietnamese team will take part in the second Asian Beach Games, which will take place in the Omani capital city Muscat, from December 8-16.

The competition has attracted 45 countries and territories from across Asia.

The 48 strong Vietnamese team will compete in 7 different events including body-building, long distance swimming, sepak takraw, handball, volleyball, football and basketball.

The athletes gathered to train for the event at the start of this year at national sports training centres in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and other cities and provinces across the country.

At the first Asian Beach Games in Bali, Indonesia in 2008, Vietnam came eighth out of 42 countries winning two gold medals, five silver medals and three bronze medals.

Vietnam expects to host the fifth Asian Beach Games in the central city of Nha Trang in 2016.
