Vietnam has commenced work on 1,332 kilometers of new expressway since the start of this year. Currently, about 1,700 kilometers of expressway is under construction.

Four sections of the North-South Expressway, namely Mai Son-National Highway 45, Nha Trang-Cam Lam, Vinh Hao-Phan Thiet, and Phan Thiet-Dau Giay, were opened to traffic in the second quarter of this year.

These additions have raised the total length of the country’s expressway network to 1,729 kilometers, with projections indicating a total of 1,852 kilometers by year-end.

Regarding the 2021-2025 phase of the North-South Expressway project, 12 provinces and cities have already transferred 87% of the required cleared land for other sections of the project, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Lam said.

Local authorities have made further efforts to complete the site clearance process for the Bien Hoa-Vung Tau, Khanh Hoa-Buon Ma Thuot, and Chau Doc-Can Tho-Soc Trang expressways, as well as two beltways, before December 31, 2023.
