The event which will be organised at Vo Nguyen Giap Square in Hong Ngu Town is expected to attract around 50,000 participants who are partners of the cat fish breeding and processing sector and visitors inside and outside the country.
This is an occasion for partners to meet and exchange experiences in the sector.
Participants will have a chance to see cat fish products, enjoy dishes and visit cat fish breeding and processing areas.
Seminars related to the fishery sector’s development will also be held during the festival.
Dong Thap plans to maintain the festival as an annual event.
Cat fish breeding is a key industry in Dong Thap Province in particular and the Mekong Delta region.
During the first 11 months of this year, cat fish export value increased 63 percent from a year earlier to nearly USD2.3 billion. The second fastest growth was seen in tuna, up 40 percent to USD941 million, followed by squid and octopus with 30 percent, valued at USD704 million.
