The EPIF has been organised by the Asian Productivity Organisation in various countries since 2004 to improve productivity, in harmony with environmental protection and socio-economic development.

Following the success of the EPIF held in Ha Noi in 2008, Viet Nam was chosen to host the event next year in HCM City.

The 2017 EPIF will showcase eco-materials, including steel and metal, polymers, composite materials and renewable energy; eco-components for industry; eco-products, including housewares, textiles, construction material, information technology and machinery and equipment;  eco-services, such as maintenance cleaning, recycling services, waste management, reforestation and eco-tourism; and eco-technologies used for residential and industrial waste disposal, emission control/disposal, environmental monitoring equipment and biotechnology.

Operating under the theme “Green technologies and products – Actions for the Future”, the 2017 EPIF seeks to promote community awareness about environment-friendly products, services and green technology; and create opportunities for domestic and foreign businesses and manufacturers to introduce eco-products and promote investment, trade and transferring new technologies.

It also provides an opportunity for local experts to exchange information and experiences to build national strategies and identify needs and activities that promote green growth in Viet Nam.

Also, a series of events will be held on the sidelines of the 2017 EPIF, including an international forum on environment and sustainable development, a conference on environmental technology, contests on environmental protection and an environmental film screening.

The fair is expected to draw nearly 70,000 visitors and 250 organisations and businesses, showcasing their products and services from different countries, including Japan, Korea, Thailand, China, the EuroCham, AmCham and AusCham.

The 2017 EPIF will be co-hosted by the Viet Nam National Productivity Institute, the Viet Nam Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Viet Nam Environment Administration and the Asian Productivity Organisation.
