
Vietnam and Jordan established diplomatic relations on August 9, 1980.
In 2024, bilateral trade reached $188.14 million, of which Vietnam exported $180.53 million worth of goods. Major exports included agricultural and seafood products, electronic items and components, fabrics, chemicals, wooden products, plastic products, equipment, tools, and spare parts.
Vietnam’s main imports from Jordan were textile materials, fertilizers, and chemicals.
As of the end of September 2025, Jordan had five valid investment projects in Vietnam with a total registered capital of $1 million, ranking 108th out of 153 countries and territories investing in Vietnam. Currently, there are no Vietnamese investment projects in Jordan.
The two nations have consistently supported each other at regional and international forums.
During the third United Nations Ocean Conference held in France this past June, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh held talks with King Abdullah II Ibn Al Hussein.
At the meeting, both leaders agreed to strengthen delegation exchanges at all levels, especially high-level visits, to enhance political trust.
The Prime Minister proposed that the two countries explore negotiations to sign a visa exemption agreement for diplomatic and official passport holders to facilitate delegation exchanges and bilateral interaction. Vietnam also expressed readiness to cooperate in agriculture and support Jordan in food security and digital transformation.
King Abdullah II expressed a desire to expand cooperation in science and technology, human resource training, post-war mine clearance, and the provision of prosthetic limbs.
Both leaders agreed to instruct relevant ministries and agencies to accelerate the necessary legal processes in preparation for the signing of bilateral agreements during the King’s upcoming visit to Vietnam.
