On September 15, a representative from C08 revealed that data retrieved from a newly installed camera on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway (from 7:00 p.m. on September 1 to midnight on September 13) showed over 67,600 vehicle movements. Among these, more than 2,000 violations were recorded, accounting for 2.96% of the total traffic flow.
The majority of violations involved drivers not wearing seat belts, with 1,813 cases (90.46%). There were also 28 cases (1.41%) involving drivers using mobile phones while operating their vehicles, while 743 other cases included various additional infractions.
Notably, 1,261 of the violations were committed by commercial transport drivers, making up 62.93% of the total recorded offenses.
According to the C08 representative, traffic violations were initially high after the camera system was activated. However, following public awareness campaigns and widespread communication regarding traffic law enforcement, the number of offenses has gradually declined.
In the near future, C08 will continue working with relevant authorities and local police forces to expand surveillance infrastructure by installing over 5,000 additional cameras on expressways, highways, and in urban areas.
