VietNamNet Bridge – Private jet owners or fliers can earn their licences in Viet Nam, starting from 2020, following a joint project between Viet Nam and New Zealand.

Eagle Flight Training (EFT) of the Aviation School of New Zealand signed a co-operation contract with Viet Nam's Aerospace Engineering Services Joint Stock Company (AESC) yesterday, to establish a flight training centre at Chu Lai Airport in the central Quang Nam Province.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, CEO of AESC Tran Hai Dang said the company would take charge of airplane maintenance, technical staff training, as well as marketing and enrolment activities. "Our target market is not only Viet Nam, but also students from Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar," he said.

The project aims to provide flight and ground training for basic private pilot licence to at least 300 students per year, starting from 2020. Qualified candidates will then go to New Zealand for commercial pilot training.

Alexander Zapisetskiy, CEO of EFT, said Viet Nam with a population of 92 million could not develop its aviation industry sustainably if the training and examination of pilots was not developed in the country.

Viet Nam hasn't had any civil aviation training activities in the country so far. All students have to go abroad for expensive flight training of uneven coaching quality.

Eagle Flight Training is accepting applications from Vietnamese citizens for the commercial pilot training programme, designed as per Vietnam Airlines' (VNA) requirements. The training will be done in Auckland, New Zealand.

All candidates will be carefully screened and selected by EFT. The successful candidates will also have to pass VNA's employment screening process.
