The infomation was released by AXCR founder Tadayuki Sasa during a July 16 press conference in Hanoi titled “Vietnam & The road to professional motorsports”.
In addition to this announcement, Mr Sasa also revealed that Racing AKA are to become the first Vietnamese professional rally team to take part in the tournament.
The founder added that the country has met all requirements set by the AXCR, such as natural conditions, a passionate motorsports fanbase, and a suitable venue for hosting international sporting events.
Apart from the AXCR, Vietnam will also host a Formula One grand prix in April 2020, becoming the third Southeast Asian nation to welcome the sport.
As planned, a 150km to 300 km rally racing tournament is set to take place in Vietnam in October as a test event in preparation for hosting future versions of the AXCR.
The nation’s Racing AKA team have announced that they will be competing in the competition.
The Asia Cross Country Rally is held in August annually, beginning in Thailand before moving to other countries around the region. This year, the race will begin on August 10 in Pattaya and end on August 16 in Naypyitaw, Myanmar.
Racers will have to overcome an array of rough and varied terrain conditions, such as mountainous roads, jungles, coastlines, and plantations which are among the most challenging natural conditions in Asia.
