International media outlet AFP quoted a senior administration official as saying that a total of 4,149,990 doses of the Pfizer vaccine are currently being sent to the country.
This comes off the back of another batch of one million doses of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine that were donated by the US arriving in Hanoi on November 17, according to the US Embassy in Hanoi.
Furthermore, more than 1.3 million doses of the Pfizer vaccine supported by the US through the COVAX Facility were also delivered to the nation on November 6. The following day saw another 1.2 million doses of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine donated by the US and channeled through the COVAX Facility arrive in Ho Chi Minh City on November 7.
The US represents the nation’s largest donor of COVID-19 vaccines. In addition to donations, it also committed to providing the country with more than US$30.2 million to fight the pandemic through the training for thousands of medical workers, along with the provision of testing equipment, vaccine storage facilities, and machines used for treatment of the virus.
