According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), the summer tournament will begin at an ideal time for the national U19 team as many members of the squad will just be finishing the V.League season.

The Toulon Tournament, also known as the Festival International "Espoirs" - Tournoi Maurice Revello, is an annual competition which features a number of invited national teams with squads made up of under-21 players.

Previous versions of tournament have seen an array of future stars showcase their talents, including Jean-Pierre Papin, Thierry Henry, Javier Mascherano, Hugo Lloris, Alan Shearer, and Juan Román Riquelme. 

The Toulon Tournament will offer the Vietnamese team the opportunity to gain experience at an international competition ahead of the final round of the 2020 AFC U-19 Championship. VOV
