The national taekwondo team will compete in the WTF World Taekwondo Championships 2015, to be held in Chelyabinsk in Russia, from May 12 to 18.
The 12-member team includes Southeast Asian Games gold medallist Nguyen Trong Cuong and Asian Games silver medallist Nguyen Van Duy.
In the same event held in the Republic of Korea in 2011, Le Huynh Chau won a bronze medal in the men’s 63kg category.
The biennial event’s best fighters will be chosen to compete in the 2016 Summer Olympics, to be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from August 5 to 21.
U23 Cambodia to play friendly match with DTLA
U23 Cambodia will have a training session in Vietnam and will play a friendly match with Toyota V.League 1's Dong Tam Long An (DTLA) on May 15.
These activities are in preparation for the coming 28th Southeast Asian Games in Singapore in June.
In the Singapore Games, Cambodia will be in Group A with Indonesia, Singapore, Myanmar and the Philippines.
Former V.League champions DTLA are in good form in the national premier league. With 21 points, they rank fourth out of 14 teams.
