VietNamNet Bridge - Deputy General Director of the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) Hoang Thi Diep said that this agency wants to have many good clips to advertise in major markets, but due to limited funds, it does not have good products as desire.

Vietnam's tourism in clips of foreign visitors

Recently, a clip marketing Nha Trang as an interesting destination by a Korean travel company has impressed the online community of Vietnam. For nearly three minutes, Nha Trang appears with green sea, impressive images of Long Son Pagoda, Ponagar tower, Hon Tam Island ... Two Korean tourists enjoy exploring the lives of people, good food, play sports at a luxury resort ...

Ms. Doan Thanh Tra, Head of the Marketing Division of Saigontourist, said watching the clip, she was shocked of the beauty of Nha Trang sea. She wanted to return to this interesting place to visit though she had been there several times.

According to Tra, Vietnamese travel firms all need good clips to promote tourism in foreign markets but they do not have beautiful clips to show. Their clips are almost likely brochures to introduce a destination rather than advertising clips. Therefore, the tourism industry needs to develop a common program for promotion because travel firms have limited funding for this task.

"To promote a destination, pictures are the most powerful to the minds of viewers. But in overall, tourism clips of Vietnam are ineffective and unimpressive. Only few clips of some coastal resort or clips of Vietnam Airlines are carefully invested and quite impressive," said Tra.

Tra said that an advertising clip should not focus on a lot of things but the most characteristic point or place, for example Nha Trang and then visitors will know about other places. Vietnam can take advantage of the Internet to promote tourism.

"We expect that the tourism sector will have impressive clips to promote Vietnam’s tourism that travel firms can take abroad for advertising. We can hire foreigners to make these clips because they see Vietnam with the eyes of tourists. There are the things that are very interesting to foreigners, but the Vietnamese do not care," she said.

Mr. Luu Duc Ke, Director of Hanoitourist said that the public is interested in the clip about Nha Trang because Vietnam does not have such a clip or has clips of poor quality. The Korean travel company has produced a good clip that anyone likes it.

According to him, there are two issues with the promotion of Vietnam tourism: limited budget for advertising and the different perceptions on this issue. Instead of making publications and clips of high quality to use for a long term, tourism administration agencies aired advertising clips on CNN and BBC, with very high cost but the time passed quickly.

"If we have little money, we should make clips to introduce on social networks. We need to hire foreigners with high costs to make good clips, "said Ke said.

Mr. Vu The Binh, deputy chairman of the Vietnam Tourism Association, said the tourism sector does not have many advertising clips. There are only on clip to promote the Vietnamese tourism industry on the occasion of the 1000th anniversary of Thang Long-Hanoi and a clip for the Chinese market. Most of the clips are in the form of material to introduce at fairs and conferences.

"It is time for the tourism industry to develop promotional clips in depth, to focus on the best things, not to make a list of everything we have," Binh said.

Ms. Hoang Thi Diep, VNAT Deputy Director said, due to limited funding, the VNAT has only two clips promoting the Vietnamese and Chinese tourism markets. Therefore, going overseas, Vietnamese travel firms have the right to introduce their own clips.

"We look forward to have better clips to advertise in the major markets such as Thailand, India, and Malaysia, but due to limited funds we should not have the desired clip," said Diep.
