“We sent the best weightlifters to the event and played with fair-play spirit,” said Nguyen The Long, head of weightlifting section of the National Sports Administration.
Some 125 athletes performed at the championship, which opened on November 23. They came from Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam.
The three-day tournament aimed to promote wrestling in the locality, Vietnam and abroad as well as tighten solidarity among ASEAN member states, helping build a peaceful and prosperous bloc.
