Vietnam's U15 team began their campaign with a 6-3 defeat to Bosnia-Herzegovina but quickly found their rhythm under head coach Hoang Anh Tuan.
Their first victory came against Brunei, with Vietnam securing a commanding 6-0 win to collect their first points of the tournament.
The young Vietnamese players carried that momentum into their next group-stage match against Mauritius at 8 p.m. on October 25.
Combining proactive attacking play with solid defending, Vietnam produced another convincing performance to win 4-1.
Van Tai scored twice, while Phuoc An and Xuan Vinh added a goal each to complete the victory.
Vietnam now face two more group-stage fixtures on October 26.
At noon, Hoang Anh Tuan's side will take on Iran, considered one of their stronger opponents in the group.
They will then meet Guyana, a team from South America, at 6:45 p.m. the same day.
At the FIFA U15 World Cup & Festival 2026, Vietnam have been drawn in Group R alongside Bosnia-Herzegovina, Iran, Mauritius, Guyana and Brunei.
The competition follows an eight-a-side format, with eight players from each team on the pitch and matches played on fields approximately half the size of a standard 11-a-side football pitch.
The tournament is organized in two stages.
In the opening phase, teams are divided into groups and compete in a single round-robin format, with the results determining their groupings for the next stage.
The format is designed to provide young players with opportunities to gain international experience, develop their skills and compete against opponents from different footballing backgrounds.
