Being a nation with young population, Vietnam has always attached importance to training and education. The number of Vietnamese students in the US has kept increasing in recent times.
Mr Hong expressed hope that universities in the two countries will continue strengthen exchange and cooperation programmes to meet the requirements of both sides.
Professor Michael Edward Kress and members of the delegation expressed wishes to learn more about Vietnam’s development strategy and opportunities for cooperation with Vietnam in the field of education and training.
* Vietnamese students and post graduates to be honoured in France
To promote studying movements and scientific research activities among Vietnamese students in France, the Union of Vietnamese Students in France (UEVF) will grant certificates of merit to students and post graduates who have recorded good achievements in the past academic year.
President of UEVF Hoang Nang Thang said this is part of activities held by the CapVietnam, Vietnam Airlines, Hitvoyge and the UEVF every year.
Mr Thang said the event aims to encourage students to be more creative in their studies to contribute to developing solidarity and mutual assistance among the Vietnamese student community in France.
The organizing board said criteria for rewards will be based on achievements made by students and post graduates during their studies in France.
An awards ceremony will be held on February 12, 2011 in Paris, France and six prizes will be given to the outstanding students and post graduates.
