The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has directed the Vietnam Embassy in Beijing to work with China’s relevant agencies to verify information on 100 Vietnamese brides missing in China and devise a proper solution for the case.

Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry deputy spokesperson Pham Thu Hang made the statement in response to correspondents’ queries at a regular press briefing in Hanoi on December 18, noting that the Foreign Ministry would make further announcement about the case as information becomes available.

Regarding the recent murder of a Vietnamese bride in the Republic of Korea (RoK), Ms Hang said after receiving the information, Vietnam’s Foreign Ministry has directed the Vietnam Embassy in the RoK to urgently work with relevant agencies to investigate the case, impose a harsh punishment on the murderer and take preventive measures to avoid similar cases.

Ms Hang added that Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has instructed the Vietnam Embassy in the RoK to strictly co-ordinate with the RoK side to strengthen management and punish violations regarding the international marriage.
