The GenAI Summit 2024 promises to be a milestone in Vietnam’s journey into the future of artificial intelligence. With over 1,000 attendees expected, the summit will gather a diverse group of industry leaders, cutting-edge researchers, and tech innovators to discuss the latest advancements in GenAI.
A central attraction of the summit is Jeff Dean, Google's Chief Scientist and the mastermind behind Google Brain, Google Translate, and other revolutionary products that have cemented Google's position as a global tech leader. Known affectionately as the "God of Engineers" at Google, Dean’s presence is poised to be a significant highlight of the event.
As Vietnam’s inaugural GenAI conference, the summit will delve into three core themes: "Foundational Models of GenAI," "Practical Applications of GenAI," and "Opportunities for Vietnam."
In the "Foundational Models of GenAI" segment, leading academics and researchers will explore the technologies propelling large language models (LLMs) forward. The "Practical Applications of GenAI" section will see top business leaders discuss how GenAI is transforming industries like healthcare and education, along with its integration into daily life.
The summit will culminate in a discussion on "Opportunities for Vietnam," where investors and leaders from both local and international AI firms will examine the potential impact of GenAI on Vietnam's technological landscape and economy. This segment will also highlight the opportunities and challenges Vietnam faces in becoming a significant player in the AI domain.
Dr. Nguyen Minh Thang, a co-organizer of the summit, expressed his enthusiasm, saying, “This is set to be Vietnam’s most exciting GenAI conference to date, and perhaps one of the most significant in the region. Jeff Dean’s visit to Vietnam, along with other renowned experts from Silicon Valley, marks a pivotal moment. This is a golden opportunity for tech enthusiasts.”
Co-organizer Nguyen Uyen Wendy, M.Sc., added: “Bringing Jeff Dean and other world-class scientists to Vietnam is a historic achievement. This summit is not just about AI; it’s about inspiring the next generation of Vietnamese talent in problem-solving, leadership, and relentless innovation.”
The AI Summit is an annual event established by the New Turing Institute in 2018, aimed at bridging Vietnam’s AI community with global experts. This year’s event, co-organized by the Rethink Healthcare Foundation and Fulbright University, is sponsored by the Ministry of Planning and Investment.
Having grown into one of Southeast Asia’s premier scientific and technological events, the AI Summit attracted over 3,600 participants in 2023, including influential figures like Sam Altman, CEO of OpenAI, and Professor Christopher Manning, Director of the Stanford Artificial Intelligence Laboratory (SAIL). The GenAI Summit 2024 is expected to further elevate Vietnam’s presence on the global AI stage.
