The Vietnamese team came out on top at the 2012 Asian Muay Thai Championships which ended in HCM City on July 13.



The five-day event attracted 400 boxers from 15 countries and territories in the Asian region.

Vietnam grabbed a total of 11 gold, eight silver and two bronze medals to win the championship title, followed by Laos (three golds, four silvers and four bronzes) and Iraq (three golds).

Nguyen Tran Duy Nhat, Nguyen Doan Long and Bui Thi Quynh earned the first three gold medals for Vietnam on July 12.

Nguyen Thi Thanh Truc defeated Su Li Ting from Taiwain, China, winning the gold medal in the women's 45kg event, while Le Hoang Duc knocked out Seua Thama Keasone from Laos, earning another gold in the men's 45kg category.

Six other gold medals went to Nguyen Ngo Trieu Nhat (men's 51kg), Nguyen Thi Toan (women's 54kg), Phan Thi Ngoc Linh (women's 57kg), Nguyen Thi Ngoc (women's 60kg), Vo Van Dai (men's 63.5kg) and Truong Quoc Hung (men's 75kg).

The 2012 Asian Muay Thai Championships was organized by the Asian Muay Federation in co-ordination with the HCM City Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
