VietNamNet Bridge – The team of Vietnam’s Lac Hong University and the team of Indonesia’s Batam University of Technology won the bronze medal of the Asia-Pacific Robot Contest 2011.


The competition, called ABU Robocon 2011, took place in Thailand on August 27, with the participation of 19 teams from 18 countries.

Two teams from Thailand’s Dhurakij Pundit University and Kampaengphet College won the gold and silver medals.

The Vietnamese team won the bronze medal and the Toyota Prize.

The Vietnamese team, including three students – Bui Van Dat, Nguyen Tien Dung and Nguyen Chien Thang and three assistants, defeated teams from Fiji and Turkey in the qualifier round and the team from Laos in the quarter-finals.

The ABU Robocon was launched for the first time in 2002 in Japan. In addition to promoting relationships and cultural exchanges to foster closer ties among countries in the Asia-Pacific region, the objective of the contest is to develop knowledge, creativity and innovation among younger people in the region.

Through the contest's 10-year history, Vietnam has been one of the most successful countries by winning the contest in 2002, 2004 and 2006, and achieving a deep run into the contest many times.

Last year, the team from Lac Hong University, HCM City won the silver medal in Cairo, Egypt.
