Vietnam has won first prize at the ASEAN stamp and postmark designs competition, announced the Ministry of Information and Communications.

Around 55 designs from the 10 ASEAN countries were chosen for the final round, comprising of 30 stamps and 25 postmarks.

The winning stamp and postmark design reflected the unity of the ASEAN Community under the theme of ‘One vision, one Identity, One community’.

The stamp and postmark will be officially available on August 8 in each member state to celebrate the partnership’s 48th founding anniversary.

On the postmark the ASEAN emblem is seen in the middle of the design and is circled by 3 meaningful lines, which stand for 3 pillars strengthening the political stability, economic stability as well as social and cultural ties in the ASEAN community, which is expected to take shape by late 2015.

The postage stamp represents the 10 flags of ASEAN members unified in the form of a flower. In the background, a symbol of a pigeon appears intended to show the pacific aspect of the region. Below the flags, there is an image of two hands shaking, which portrays the friendship and the golden rice flowers which refers to the agricultural activities, the predominant way of life and source of income in ASEAN countries.
