Local marksmen clinched four gold, six silver and six bronze medals at the 38th Southeast Asian Shooting Championships (SEASA 2014), which concluded in Singapore on December 17.
The 10-day competition attracted 450 shooters from 19 countries and territories in Southeast Asia and East Asia including Japan, Taiwan, Mongolia and Hong Kong.
Vietnam sent 63 competitors to the SEASA 2014 in preparation for the 28th SEA Games, scheduled for Singapore in June 2015. They included many outstanding marksmen - Hoang Xuan Vinh, Pham Xuan Chuyen, Tran Quoc Cuong, Ha Minh Thanh, Nguyen Hoang Phuong, and Le Thi Hoang Ngoc.
Pham Xuan Chuyen won a gold medal for Vietnam in the men’s pistol 25m standard category with 569 points. Silver medal went to Kieu Thanh Tu (566 points), while Ha Minh Thanh snatched bronze medal (565 points).
Other gold medallists were Hoang Xuan Vinh - Ha Minh Thanh - Bui Quang Nam in the men’s pistol 25m team category, Hoang Xuan Vinh - Tran Quoc Cuong - Nguyen Hoang Phuong in the men’s pistol 50m team category, and Nguyen Duy Hoang - Phung Le Huyen - Nguyen Van Quan in the men’s rifle 50m team category.
