The HKN-B1-01 team of Huynh Khuong Ninh Secondary School in Ho Chi Minh City bagged a silver medal in the Elementary category for students aged between eight and 12. Elsewhere, a second silver medal went to Hong Bang 4 team from Hong Bang Secondary School in Ho Chi Minh City in the Junior category for students aged 11 to 15.
The local students finished behind competitors from leading countries in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) such as Japan and Germany.
Furthermore, VIET ROBOT B3-02 team from Vietrobot Education and the WE ARE FROM VIETNAM team from the Kids Engineer Center were awarded two silver medals in the Senior category designed for students aged 14 to 19. They finished behind strong rivals from leading STEM countries like Japan, Switzerland, India, and Egypt.
Other Vietnamese teams - WELLSPRING SG 01, HONG BANG 5, VIET ROBOT B2-01, WS.AIDs, WS_DTMKK, VIET ROBOT B4-02, WELLSPRING SG 05, PORTERROR.WS from Wellspring Saigon, Wellspring Hanoi, Hong Bang Ho Chi Minh City, Vietrobot Education, and Kids Engineer – took a total of eight bronze medals.
Meanwhile, Hong Bang 2 and Hong Bang 1 teams from Hong Bang Secondary School in Ho Chi Minh City ranked sixth and seventh, respectively, in the RoboSports category.
First held in 2004, the World Robot Olympiad is the world’s biggest robot competition attracting roughly 25,000 students worldwide each year. The final round is held on a rotary basis among member countries.
The competition helps young people develop their creativity and problem-solving skills, allowing them to explore STEM topics and robotics.
The event got underway in Panama City of Panama from November 7 to 9, drawing the participation of 415 teams from 81 countries and territories worldwide.
In Vietnam, the ROBOTACON contest 2023 was jointly held by the Embassy of Denmark and Viet Tinh Anh JSC to seek Vietnamese representatives to the global contest.
