VietNamNet Bridge – Vietnam’s female martial artists won four gold medals at the Korea Open karate championships that concluded on July 12.

The first gold medal went to Nguyen Hoang Ngan in the women’s single event.

She easily defeated Yrullina Karina (Russia) 5-0 and Wu Lok Man (Hong Kong, China) 4-1 to face her fellow Vietnamese player, Nguyen Thi Hang in the final round.

Earlier, Hang triumphed over Yip Ching Yee (Hong Kong, China) and Bova Mariia (Russia) with the same score of 5-0.

In the final round, international experience helped Ngan outclass Hang 4-1, securing the championship title.

The second gold medal was collected by Tran Hoang Yen Phuong when she beat her Korean rival 8-11 in the 50kg category.

Lang Thi Hoa grabbed the third gold medal in the above 61kg event.

In addition, Vietnamese girls defeated their hosts, the Republic of Korea, in the team event, clinching the last fourth gold medal.

Vietnam also earned one silver and one bronze medal at the tournament.

The Korea Open karate championships this year drew the participation of martial artists from Russia, Vietnam, Hong Kong (China) and the Republic of Korea.
