Viet Nam wins silver medal at Aerobics World Cup

Vietnamese athletes won a silver medal at the Borovets Aerobics World Cup which ended in Bulgaria on Sunday.

Le Vu Phuong Dung, Nguyen Viet Anh and Vu Ba Dong ranked second in the senior trio category with 20,261 points.

The team from Romania took the gold with 20,700 points and the Chinese squad came third with 20,255 points. 

U19 players called for Japan training

Coach Guillaume Graechen has called another 11 players for the national U19 team who will leave for a training course in Japan next month.

Graechen added one goalkeeper, seven midfielders and two strikers, making a list of 26 players.

The tour to Japan of the team is part of the plan preparing for the coming Asian championship in Myanmar this October and the ASEAN event on September in Ha Noi.

Graechen said it would not be the final list as he would watch them during training and eliminate those who do not meet requirement and the national team is still open for others who could prove their abilities.

Son, Ninh lead rapid chess champs

Teammates Nguyen Ngoc Truong Son and Vo Thanh Ninh shared the top place after three rounds in the first day of the National Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships in HCM City.

Both of them won all three matches of the rapid chess event and will be direct rivals in today's fourth round.

Three Hanoian masters, Nguyen Van Hai, Nguyen Van Huy and Tran Tuan Minh occupied the following places.

World blitz chess champion Le Quang Liem won two lost one, ranked at 23rd.

On the women's side, Pham Ngoc Bich of Can Tho was solo on the top with three wins. Her teammate Pham Le Thao Nguyen came second and Hanoian Hoang Thi Bao Tram was at third.

The championships will conclude on May 17.

Table tennis athletes set for champs in Khanh Hoa

The National All-Star Teams Table Tennis Championships will be organised in Khanh Hoa Province next week.

Eleven men's and 10 women's teams have already registered for the event which will be held from May 19 to 25. The players will compete in the singles and team events.
