This marks the first time in history that a Vietnamese women’s team have won a bronze medal at the FIVB (International Volleyball Federation) Challenger Cup.

Vietnam peaked at 32nd in the world out of a total of 77 countries and territories worldwide after adding 6.3 more points. This marks the highest position of the national women’s volleyball team in the global rankings. The latest spot puts Vietnam at number five in Asia, after mainland China, Japan, Thailand, and Kazakhstan.

In terms of Southeast Asia, Vietnam were placed in second position behind Thailand, ranking on the 14th in the global list.

Meanwhile, Vietnam’s U20 women volleyball team defeated India 3-0 at the 2024 Asian Women's U20 Volleyball Championship.

Local players will face the winner of the match between Taiwan (China) and Kazakhstan to vie for a spot in the FIVB Volleyball Women's U21 World Championship in 2025 as the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) representatives.
