Vietnam's women's volleyball team has learned its group-stage opponents for the 2026 Asian Games.

Group A consists of host Japan, Indonesia and Nepal, while defending champion China, Kazakhstan and the Philippines make up Group B. Group C features Thailand, Chinese Taipei, Kyrgyzstan and Mongolia.

Among the opponents facing coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his players in Group D, South Korea are considered the strongest.

At the 19th Asian Games in 2023, Thanh Thuy and her teammates pulled off a surprise 3-2 victory over South Korea to reach the semifinals. However, in their most recent meeting at the 2026 AVC Cup, Vietnam suffered a 3-0 defeat to the Koreans.

The women's indoor volleyball tournament at the 20th Asian Games has 14 participating teams and will run from Sept. 16 to 22. Vietnam's goal is to retain the fourth-place finish they achieved at the previous Asian Games.

In the men's indoor volleyball competition, Vietnam has been drawn into Group C alongside Qatar, India and Hong Kong (China).

Group A consists of host Japan, Pakistan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Group B features Iran, Indonesia, Thailand and Kyrgyzstan, while Group D includes South Korea, China, Chinese Taipei and the Philippines.

The men's indoor volleyball tournament will feature 16 teams and take place from Sept. 27 to Oct. 3.
