
Despite their determined display, the gap in class proved decisive as the Vietnamese side struggled to contain their opponents. The only goal for coach Mai Duc Chung’s team came from Thanh Nha.
Reflecting on her strike against China, Thanh Nha said she had tried to make the most of her strengths in the moment.
“In the situation where I scored against China, I tried to maximize what I do best. Going into matches like this, I need to be more decisive and more confident so I can contribute more to the team,” she shared.
“After this training camp in China, we have gained valuable tactical experience, especially in terms of fitness and competitive intensity. These are extremely important factors when competing at continental level.”
Following the conclusion of their training camp in China, the Vietnam women’s team will return home to celebrate the Lunar New Year before heading into the AFC Women’s Asian Cup 2026.
At the tournament, Vietnam have been drawn in Group C alongside Japan, India and Chinese Taipei. The top two teams in each group, along with the two best third-placed sides, will advance to the quarter-finals.
According to the schedule, Mai Duc Chung’s side will face India in their opening match on March 4, before taking on Chinese Taipei and Japan on March 7 and March 10, respectively.
