Vietnamese all over the world have organised plentiful activities to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), their most important festival in a year.

The Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco city, the US California State, held a get-together on February 15 to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), the biggest annual festival of Vietnamese.

Addressing the event, Consul General Vuong Hai Nam affirmed that overseas Vietnamese are an indispensable part of the nation.

He said he looks forward to the organisation of many practical activities in 2015 when the two countries mark the 20th anniversary of their diplomatic ties.

On the occasion, US congresswoman Barbara Lee sent her greetings to the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco and extended her New Year wishes to the Vietnamese people there.

Also on February 15, the Vietnamese in Germany’s Leipzig city and neighbouring localities gathered in Leipzig to greetTet as well as the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-German ties and the 1,000th founding anniversary of Leipzig city.

Speaking at the event, Leipzig Mayor Uwe Albrecht said Vietnam and Leipzig have enjoyed sound relations, which significantly contributed to the growing ties between the two countries.

He also thanked the Vietnamese community in Leipzig for their contributions to the city’s development.

Vietnamese Trade Counsellor Nguyen Thien Binh highly valued support that Leipzig government has given to the Vietnamese community over the past years.

Earlier on February 14, about 300 Vietnamese in Norway participated in a Tet meeting in Oslo.

Ambassador to Norway Le Thi Tuyet Mai spoke highly of the Vietnamese community’s strong engagement in fostering bilateral ties.

Meanwhile, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea (RoK) Pham Huu Chi paid visits and presented gifts to Vietnamese-RoK families.

He praised the Vietnamese brides’ efforts in overcoming difficulties and integrating into the host country, as well as the support of the RoK families for them, saying all of these helped enhance the ties between Vietnam and the RoK.

Plentiful Tet celebrations for Vietnamese around the world

Vietnamese all over the world have organised plentiful activities to celebrate the traditional Lunar New Year (Tet), their most important festival in a year.

In India, the Vietnamese Embassy in New Delhi held a warm get-together on February 15 for the Vietnamese community in the country with the participation of about 200 guests.

Addressing the event, Ambassador Ton Sinh Thanh extended New Year wishes to the Vietnamese people in India, affirming that the overseas Vietnamese community is an indispensable part of the country.

Reviewing bilateral ties between the two countries, he said since bilateral strategic partnership was set up in 2007, Vietnam and India have enjoyed growing ties in all fields, with regular meetings between both countries’ leaders.

He expressed his belief that 2015 will be another successful year for bilateral cooperation.

Meanwhile, the Vietnamese Embassy in South Africa also held a meeting for Vietnamese people in South Africa and neighbouring countries.

Ambassador Le Huy Hoang said 2014 saw a great number of achievements in all areas. Vietnam has also seen an increasing partnership with South Africa , with over 1.2 billion USD in two-way trade.

On the occasion, he called for further efforts made by the Vietnamese community in South Africa in fostering friendship and comprehensive collaboration between Vietnam and Africa as well as neighbouring countries.

Meanwhile, nearly 600 overseas Vietnamese in the Czech Republic gathered on February 14 in Pardubice city, 100km east of Prague , to enjoy the festival. The city, the capital of Pardubice province, is also home to nearly 2,000 Vietnamese people.

At the same time, Tet celebrations was held by Vietnamese in Australia, Belgium, France, Israel, Japan, Romania, Russia and the UK.

Overseas Vietnamese welcome Tet in US, Germany and Egypt

The Vietnamese Consulate General in Houston, the US state of Texas, organised a get-together on February 12 to celebrate the lunar New Year (Tet) festival.

The event brought together nearly 300 Vietnamese living in the state, who were joined by representatives from Houston administration and the US State Department.

Addressing the celebration, Consul General Nguyen Van Hoa highlighted progress in Vietnam-US bilateral relations in 2014. Two way trade between the two countries reached 35 billion USD last year.

He called on the Vietnamese expatriates to contribute more to the ties between Texas State and Vietnam in the fields of economy, investment, education and health.

On the same occasion, the Vietnamese Embassies in Germany and Egypt also carried out many activities to celebrate Tet.

Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung asserted the State and Party’s consistent policy of considering overseas Vietnamese as an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.

He also praised contributions of the overseas Vietnamese to the country’s development, stronger international integration, and raising the position of Vietnam in the world.

Transparent administrative procedure to attract OVs investment

The State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs, the Foreign Ministry, the Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee and the Voice of Vietnam (VOV) have held a forum on the effective implementation of relevant policies to attract more OVs resources.

The forum was attended by OVs experts, intellectuals and business people.

The Party Politburo’s Resolution No. 36/NQ-TW has encouraged overseas Vietnamese communities to promote their patriotism by practical activities.

However, all sectors and localities in Vietnam should effectively disseminate the Resolution, simplify and make administrative procedures relating to OVs more transparent to win their confidence in the Party guidelines and State policies in order to further attract their investment in the country.

Overseas Vietnamese is considered an inseparable part of the nation.

OVs welcome lunar New Year

On the same occasion, the Vietnamese Embassies in Germany and Egypt also carried out many activities to celebrate Tet.

In Germany, hundreds of overseas Vietanmese in Leipzig gathered in Leipzeigh Culture House to welcome Tet and celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam-Germany diplomatic ties and 1000thfounding anniversary of Leipzig.

Ambassador to Egypt Dao Thanh Chung asserted the State and Party’s consistent policy of considering overseas Vietnamese an inseparable part of the Vietnamese nation.

He also praised contributions of the overseas Vietnamese to Vietnam's development, international integration, and raising the position of Vietnam in the world.

About 300 overseas Vietnamese and students in Norway and their Norwegian friends celebrated the Vietnamese lunar New Year at the Red Cross Society in Oslo.

In Seoul, the Vietnamese Ambassador to the Republic of Korea Pham Huu Chi, his wife and the Embassy staff visited and presented gifts to a number of overseas Vietnamese.
