The Vietnamese-American teenager got off to a strong start, capitalizing on Medvedev’s early unforced errors to earn a break and take an early lead.

However, Medvedev’s stability at the baseline and endurance allowed him to turn the tide. He came back to win the first set 7-5 after Tien double-faulted at a crucial moment.

In the second set, Medvedev initially had the upper hand, but a physical issue slowed him down. Tien took full advantage, displaying composure under pressure to win the set 7-5 and level the match.

The third set saw Medvedev clearly struggling with cramps and fatigue. He even got into a dispute with the umpire after receiving a warning for "lack of effort." Tien seized the opportunity, securing two breaks to take a commanding 4-0 lead. Medvedev then dropped a game without winning a point and ultimately withdrew from the match.

With this win, Learner Tien reaches an ATP Tour final for the first time in his career.

Tien had a stroke of luck at this tournament, advancing twice due to opponents’ retirements, including Lorenzo Musetti in the previous round.

Nonetheless, the young star has shown tremendous growth and composure, proving he's ready to challenge elite opponents. The final against Sinner promises to be a major test of his rising potential.

Born in 2005 in California, USA, Learner Tien is the son of Vietnamese immigrants. His talent and passion for tennis emerged early.

He picked up a racket at just one year old and was guided by his parents toward a professional path in tennis. At the age of five, he won his first title at the Halloween 2011 tournament in Upland, California.
