VietNamNet Bridge - Along with 19 abstract artists from seven Southeast Asian countries, Pham An Hai was the only Vietnamese artist honored by Sotheby’s at an exhibition held in Singapore and Hong Kong.

The exhibition, entitled “A New Dialogue”, washeld in celebration of Sotheby's 30th Anniversary in Singapore. Premiering inSingapore before going to Hong Kong, the exhibition marks the firstcomprehensive selling exhibition that recognizes the important artisticachievements from Southeast Asia.
Featuring over 20 artists from seven countries,“A New Dialogue” spotlights the great influencers who have redefined abstractart in Southeast Asia. From paintings by established masters to newlycommissioned works by younger artists, A New Dialogue presents revitalizeddepth and vision, articulating a new artistic discourse.
As one of the few contemporary Vietnameseartists who embraced Abstract Art in his oeuvre, Pham An Hai's paintings are anhomage to the city landscape, notably Hanoi, where he has spent much of hislife.
The artist has travelled extensively overseas,showcasing his artworks in solo and group exhibitions. A former student ofVietnamese artist Tran Luu Hau, Hai said his abstract paintings are reminiscentof his mentor's impassioned brushstrokes and bright colors.

Many of Pham An Hai's paintings are a visual celebration of the changing season, the color and compositions alluding to the environment as it experiences the natural changes of time. With thick brushstrokes and a vibrant color palette, the artworks engage the audience with their multi-layer hues and dynamic compositions that redefine the Vietnamese landscape.
The exhibition will move to Sotheby's Hong Kong Gallery (November 12-21).
