Vietnam has had representatives at the Miss World pageant since 2002. So far Vietnamese girls have had a major impact on the prestigious global beauty contest. In 2017 Miss Vietnam Do My Linh won the Beauty with a Purpose title, came first in Head-to-Head challenge and finished among the top 40.

Dieu Ngoc was crowned Miss Ao Dai 2016, the pageant to select the Vietnamese entry for Miss World. She prepared carefully for the world pageant, however, she finished empty handed.

Tran Ngoc Lan Khue took the crown of the first-ever Miss Ao Dai 2014 and won a ticket to compete in Miss World 2015. The 1.76m-tall-girl took 11th place thanks to having the highest vote of spectators in the globe, she also came first in evening gown session.

The second runner-up of Miss Ethnic Vietnam 2013, Nguyen Thi Loan, competed in Miss World 2014. She finished among the top 25.

Miss Sports 2012 Lai Huong Thao was unable to make an impression at Miss World 2013.

The first runner-up of Miss Vietnam 2010 Vu Hoang My represented Vietnam at Miss World 2012. She was highly appreciated for being fluent in a foreign language and for her communication skills, however she failed to get a result at the world pageant.

Victoria Pham Thuy Vy was the second runner-up of the Miss Vietnam World 2010 pageant and qualified for Miss World 2011 in London. She returned home empty handed.

The first runner-up of Miss Vietnam World 2010 Nguyen Ngoc Kieu Khanh flew to China to compete in Miss World 2010. She was unable to find success at the beauty contest.

Tran Thi Huong Giang is the most successful Vietnamese representative at the global beauty contest. In Miss World 2009, she was named in the top 12 of the swimsuit session, ranked second in the Top Model session and finished 16th overall.

Duong Truong Thien Ly won the highest vote at Miss World 2008.

Miss Vietnam 2002 Pham Mai Phuong (R) was the first Vietnamese beauty to compete at the Miss World pageant. The 17-year-old girl caused a surprise when she finished 20th in the 2002 world pageant.
