The stock market had an eventful year in 2015. Bustling trading sessions occurred in the first months of the year. The VN Index climbed to 638 points in mid-year, but then plunged dramatically on bad news about the Chinese renminbi devaluation and the US FED’s decision on the prime interest rate increase.

A report released by VnExpress and its data partner VNDirect Securities showed that of the 8,000 shareholders who are required to publicize information, 108 are aged under 30, or born in 1985 onwards.

Tram Khai Hoa, born in 1988, member of the Board of Directors of Sacombank (STB), still leads the under-30 group of millionaires. However, he has fallen into the 38th position on the list of stock millionaires.

The businessman now holds 33.3 million shares worth VND386.8 billion. The amount of shares Hoa held in 2015 was 39 percent higher than last year, but since the price has dropped by 47 percent compared to 2014, he has lost VND45.8 billion in stock assets.

In 2011-2012, Hoa held many important posts at Southern Bank. In 2013, the businessman joined the management board of Southern Bank Securities.

The VN Index climbed to 638 points in mid-year, but then plunged dramatically on bad news about the Chinese renminbi devaluation and the US FED’s decision on the prime interest rate increase.

Also seeing the asset value fall, Dang Nguyen Quynh Anh, the daughter of Dang Thanh Tam, chair of Kinh Bac Urban Development Company (KBC) unexpectedly jumped into the second position in the top five under-30 millionaires.

Born in 1991, the businesswoman first caught the public’s attention in March 2014 when she bought 10 million KBC shares worth VND159 billion. As the KBC share price has dropped sharply, her asset value has decreased to VND127 billion.

The third position belongs to Nguyen Ngoc Nhat Hanh, the daughter of Nguyen Thi Mai Thanh, chair of the Refrigeration Engineering Enterprise (REE). Though the amount of shares Nhat holds remains unchanged, her assets decreased by VND10 billion to VND90.6 billion due to price fluctuations.

David Ho, born in 1985, chair of Trang JSC, is a new face in the top five. With 2.5 million shares worth VND84.6 billion, he has been recognized as the fourth richest under-30 millionaire. He is a Vietnamese-Australian, the son of Nguyen Minh Nguyet, CEO of Trang JSC (TFC).

Nguyet has become well known in Vietnam as the businesswoman who has helped bring Vietnam products to the Walmart supermarket chain.

Entering the bourse on December 3, 2015, TFC shares are attractive with prices hovering around VND33,000-34,000 per share.

The fifth richest under-30 millionaire is Tran Nguyen Thao Nguyen with assets worth VND76.5 billion.
