Hoang took 10 rounds in the men’s 76kg category to securethe belt and become the first Vietnamese fighter to win the title.
The fight was the main event at Victory 8 – the Legends ofHoan Kiem, which was the biggest combat event ever held in Vietnam at Dong KinhNghia Thuc Square, a historic spot in the capital.
A total of 24 Vietnamese and foreign fighters battled it outat the event, with prize money amounting to 100,000 USD. The Vietnamese fighterswon eight of their bouts.
