A colourful doodle bearing the image of the traditional Tet (Lunar New Year) in Viet Nam appears in today's google's website.

The doodle, entitled The Tet that I Dream of, has been sketched by eight-year-old Le Hieu, from the southern province of Dong Nai, who has won the Doodle 4 Google contest, in which Google encourages Vietnamese kids to create doodles for its search engine.

"This is the year of the goat, so I tried to use a goat's image in this doodle," Hieu said. "Dragon dance and the apricot blossom are the most beautiful images of the new year that I can think of.

"Spring is my favourite season because during the Tet holiday, people can come together and have fun. Through the drawing, I wish happiness would come to everyone."

The doodles make surprising and spontaneous changes to the Google logo to celebrate holidays, anniversaries and the lives of famous artists, pioneers and scientists.

The contest was launched for the first time in Viet Nam late last year, for the age groups of seven to nine years, 10-to-12 years and 13-to-15 years.

Entitled My Dream, the contest tells children to never stop dreaming and to pursue their dreams to contribute to the development of the community and the world.

The award-winning doodle will be displayed on Viet Nam's local Google website google.com.vn, where hundreds of millions of Google users can see it, for 24 hours on June 1 (International Children's Day).
