Vietnam’s Under-15 football team has left Vietnam for Japan to participate in the Japan-Mekong Under-15 Football Competition, which will take place at the J Green Sakai Centre from July 1-3.
The competition has eight teams from Japan and Southeast Asian countries.
Vietnam was drawn into Group A alongside Japan, Cambodia and Vissel Kobe FC. Group B includes Laos, Thailand, Myanmar and Sanfrecce Hiroshima.
The top teams from each group will compete for the title while the second-placed teams in each group will vie for third and fourth places.
Vietnam will play Vissel Kobe and Cambodia on July 1 and Japan on July 2.
According to Dinh The Nam, the tournament is a good opportunity to select the best players for the Southeast Asian U16 Football Championship in July and the qualification round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U16 Championship.
