Phan Viet Linh, CEO of CDNetworks Vietnam, which specializes in providing content distribution, told VietNamNet about heightening awareness about cybersecurity in the era of digital transformation, affirming that this is a serious problem.
“With the viewpoint ‘prevention is better than cure’, we encourage institutions and businesses to switch to the 24/7 vigilance model in implementing cybersecurity activities to prevent risks and dangers before they appear,” Linh said.
This means that businesses and organizations need to apply cybersecurity measures.
In the first months of 2024, especially from Mid-March to the end of the first week of April, Vietnam’s cyberspace witnessed a high number of ransomware attacks, targeting businesses in the important business fields of the national economy, such as power, securities and telecommunications.
Of these, the ransomware attacks to VNDirect Securities on March 24 and PVOIL April 2 not only caused material and reputation damages to the two companies, but also affected activities to ensure national cyberspace safety.
Linh said the recent cyberattacks are the clear warning of the importance of getting ready to cope with cybersecurity risks.
Khong Huy Hung, CEO of VNCS (Vietnam Cyberspace Security Technology) and deputy chair of VNISA (Vietnam Information Security Association), said that they have urged businesses and organizations to heighten their awareness about information safety and cybersecurity
“I believe that not only VNDirect and PVOIL, which were victims of attacks, but all businesses, from small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and large ones, are hurrying to examine and assess the current information security situation, so as to apply solutions to ensure security for their technological infrastructure,” Hung said.
Noting that there is no absolute safety in cybersecurity, Hung said businesses should learn a lesson from attacks to VNDirect and PVOIL recently, as well as attracts before. They need to understand that state management agencies, associations, organizations and businesses need to be vigilant and invest in resources to protect information security, preparing solutions to cope with risks.
With strong technology development in the 4.0 era, cybercriminals tend to use more sophisticated tricks to attract businesses and organizations. Therefore, building a security platform with a high resistance level for the entire IT infrastructure is an urgent task.
