VietNamNet Bridge – Under a newly-signed road transportation agreement between Vietnam and China, trucks and buses are allowed to enter up to 1,300km into each other’s territory, from Hanoi to Shenzhen.

The agreement allows trucks and buses to run between Yunnan’s major economic regions, the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region and six provinces of Vietnam, including Lang Son, Quang Ninh, Hanoi and Haiphong.

Before the agreement was signed, vehicles were only permitted to enter up to 20km into each other’s territory.

From August 2012, each country can license up to 15,100 trucks and buses to travel across the border and up to 500 vehicles to deeply enter the territory of each other.

Last year 1 million tons of goods were transported via the Vietnam-China border, through the Huu Nghi border gate. Around 726,000 people also traveled across the border.
